|
|
Hey folks,
Am planning (long term) to build a house primarily using rammed earth technique, but don't necessarily want to go old school and use the power of my arms alone. I've searched the internet fairly extensively with little joy for the name and specifications of the hand-held pneumatic rams people use for the job. Everyone says they use them, but give no details on the tools themselves.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a brand and/or supplier of said apparatus? (the only one I could find for sale was on eBay, but the seller was in Michigan, USA).
Cheers. |

| Of course, I should have scrolled down the forum's topic list, where I would have seen others making the same enquiry (although I notice there haven't been many actual answers posted as yet). |

Here is a link to one retailer of the tampers:
http://www.ntah.com.au/cp_pbt.asp
I bought mine second hand from a previous owner builder.
They are often called backfill tampers or pneumatic tampers if you are searching for them.
Very occasionally they come up on ebay.
Ingersoll Rand and Chicago make them.
I hope this helps. |
